Why not to fly drones an active fire area? Even though the fire may seem small, air tankers can be called in and someone flying a drone can suspend some firefighting operations. While we are not close, the tankers are about 300 AGL, much lower at the scene.
These shots of multiple air tankers were taken from an originally reported "small fire" of 1 acre, which was reported to have grown to over 20 acres less than 2 hours later.
